The Georgia Institute of Technology, also known as Georgia Tech, is one of the nation’s leading research universities — a university that embraces change while continually Creating the Next. We are a collaborative, creative, and nimble organization of high-performing individuals focused on solving the grand challenges of our time.
Who We Are
There’s plenty you’d expect when you hear the term “Technological Institute.” Bright minds. Innovative ideas. Technological masters. Maybe even smart “nerds and geeks.”
But at Georgia Tech, we’ve never been satisfied just living up to expectations.
We’re unbound by definitions and stereotypes. Instead, we embrace an amazingly diverse and exciting blend of brilliant and creative minds. Equal parts science nerd, unconventional artist, astute strategist and change agent, we’re a community connected by an attraction to the ingenious and inventive.
Simply put, we love smart – exceptional people, expansive thinking and electrifying ideas.
But we’re more than ivory tower “big brains.” We’re also by nature tinkerers, inventors, and explorers – pathfinders that bring an industrious tenacity to every opportunity we tackle and every obstacle we overcome.
We love challenges, and expect to push ourselves to discover new limits. It’s not always easy, but defining the future never is. Besides, there’s no feeling in the world like sticking it out, battling through, and discovering solutions that power change.
At the end of the day, we’re in the business of creating the next – the next idea, the next technology, and the next legion of agile minds well-equipped to imagine and engineer our future.
If you’ve got the brains, the drive and the passion, we’ve got the challenge you’ve been looking for.
We have an established international reputation — built on decades of history and consistent top-shelf rankings — for being among the best technological universities in the world.
Each of our colleges of Computing, Design, Engineering, Sciences, Business, and Liberal Arts provides focused, technologically based education and degrees and prestigious, nationally-recognized curriculum.
We’re one of the most active research universities in the world with diverse research partnerships. Our world-class research is defining the future by addressing the critical challenges of our times.
Rigor is in our DNA, which is why we're such a highly respected technology-focused learning institution. We love smarts ⎯ it’s part of the pride that we feel for being Yellow Jackets. But while our students have to be dedicated and industrious to succeed here, we provide them with an extensive support system all the way from orientation through graduation. We want our students to succeed — and it shows in our retention numbers and graduation rates.
Though we are at heart a technological university, we are big enough to have a broad-based student body with a myriad of nationalities and interests — bringing together multiple perspectives on one campus.
We've play a pivotal rolel in developing the state’s economy by graduating a high-potential talent pool, attracting major corporations, sharing our technical know-how, commercializing research ideas, and assisting entrepreneurs in getting their businesses off the ground.
Our network of alumni is extensive, as are our research and development partnerships with major multinational corporations and government agencies. Indeed, the Georgia Tech diploma is a passport to the technology workspace.
Atlanta, chosen as home for some of the world’s biggest companies, is a uniquely open and international city — a true melting pot of cultures, and city, and campus lifestyles. Every day, Atlanta is becoming more and more of a worldwide technological leader, growing by leaps and bounds.
